Mana Words
Heather and I got to talking (yes, how unusual!) and we realized that Mana uses a LOT of French words that start with M. So we decided that we should make a list of words that Mana could use, and what they mean in English. I also made a list of the words he already uses, and tried to fathom the nonsensical ones as best as I could. Amusez-vous bien!

Here’s the words Mana already uses, and their English translations:

Monologue Théâtre: (same in English, basically)

Mon Amour: My love

Moi-Même-Moitié: Myself-halfway (lit), My better half (this is what I think he means)

Midi:Nette: Clear noon (this, however, is grammatically incorrect, because Midi is masculine, and Nette is feminine; there should be agreement—Midi:Net. Mana really does redefine “gender-bender!”)

Malice Mizer: Malice Misery (although I don’t think they meant this to be French, Mizer is pronounced the same way as misère, the French word for misery, and malice is a French word. Now try typing all that without typing mizery each time)

Moi-dix-Mois: Me-ten-month (this is actually rather nonsensical; see scape’s translations for Mana’s logic on this one)

Ma Chérie: My dearest

What Heather and I have come up with so far:

Macadam: (n) road

Macédoine (des fruits): (n) fruit salad

Macérer: (v) to wallow (Mana would love this word!)

Mâche: (n) lamb’s lettuce

Mâchoire: (n) jaw

Maculer: (v) to stain (I’m sure Mana would find this word useful)

Mainmise: (n) seizure (used to describe Gackt’s dancing skills!)

Maladresse: (n) clumsiness or blunder

Malchance: (n) unluckiness

Malencontreux. -euse: (adj) unlucky; (n) unlucky person

Malfamé: (adj) disreputable

Mansarde: (n) attic (romantic! This would’ve worked very well on Merveilles, I think)

Maquereau: (n) pimp (used in conjunction with malfamé)

Marelle: (n) hopscotch (I can so see him playing hopscotch!)

Martyriser: (v) to torment

Maso: (n) masochist

Matraquer: (v) to beat, to club

Maudit: (adj) damned, accursed (yes, Mana NEEDS this word!)

Maussade: (adj) gloomy, sullen

Mécréant: (n) nonbeliever

Mèche: (n) wick, fuse

Mitrailleuse: (n) machine-gun

Moelleux, -euse: (adj) soft, mellow
